Germany has many great places to visit. One to visit this year is during the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. We're going to take a tour with a group from America to see the different sites so the next few days I will blog about those sites and show pictures as we visit them.

We will begin with the Gutenberg Museum in Mainz without the invention of the printing press movable type printing press by Gutenberg in the 15th century it is my opinion that the Reformation would not have been possible, but with it news spread quickly all across Europe setting the groundwork for a man like Martin Luther to be able to move the masses. In Mainz is also important to visit the Dom. Mainz is close to our hearts because as we live in Aschaffenburg this was the city belonged to the Bishop of Mainz.

As a footnote Aschaffenburg was a city where the boss of Martin Luther resided and so as he nailed the 95 theses onto the door of the church of Wittenberg he had to send a copy to his boss; so he sent those here to Aschaffenburg who then read them and then passed them onto the Pope in Rome.

Traveling further from Mainz we go to the city of Worms in the city of worms is where the original council was held and Luther was held to appear before the tribunal that would ultimately excommunicate him from the Catholic Church it is also here that within the city that the memorial to the reformers is to be viewed.
