I have been especially burdened for this young man. He was in Afghanistani Special Forces with an assignment to remove mines. During that time he watched as many of his friends died in this hazardous assignment. During that time he starting relying on heroin for distraction from what I would assume was PTSD. Arriving in Germany and looking for something aching in his soul, he was introduced to Jesus and I baptized him in 2017. He recently battled a bout with depression and upon hearing it, I sought him out with a core leader from the Persian group and wanted to pray for him and annoint him with oil, based on James chapter 5. He has now returned to weekly services and exhibits new joy again.
Recently a somewhat disturbed individual came to the conclusion that I was the root of her discomfort and needed to write me a lengthy letter. Part of the letter contained these vicious paragraphs:
Roughly translated: "You cold callous ex-bullrider-pig with a satanic heart.
You are not worthy of eternity, but rather worthy of roasting on a grill in hell for all eternity, dripping in blood, as hot as can possibly be dispensed."
Know that I am at peace with the peace of God, but the attacks are real and I sensed joy knowing that we are on the front lines enough to elicit attention from darkness. I felt true sorrow for a person in such bondage and bitterness, stopping to pray for her lasting peace.
Praise: Church unity. Peace within the refugee group.
